Have 94 jetta and can someone tell me which coolant temp sensor is used by ECU to adjust ignition? There are two - one with 2 wires, and one with 4 wires. This car starts usually (but not always) really bad, and I suspect that this sensor may be wrong. Measured the resistance today - four-wire one had about 60 ohms between rear two pins (standing in front of engine, looking back), the 2-wire had nearly 0 ohms (engine cool). Are these OK or what should be the resistance on these sensors? Please don't advise to take it to VW like my Haynes manual recommends.

This is probably european forum, I am in US and jettas (european vento?) has only 2.0 4-cyl. (GL or GLS) or 2.8V6 (VR6) motors and these should be same throughout 1994. Anyway, already found an advice on other forum that it is a 4-wire sensor ECU uses (2-wire sensor is for A/C). And the resistance should not be less than 1000 ohms when cold, and 100 ohms when about 100 celsius hot, so this little sucker is most likely the reason for difficult cold starts.
