Hi

We test drove a tig with 17" wheels, and it gave a good ride on main roads - but can anyone tell me what they're like on potholed back lanes?

Would 16" with their slightly higher profile tyres give a better ride with less risk of damage?

Regards

William

Remember it is not just the height that changes with the swap to smaller wheels (from aspect ratio 55 to 65 ) but the width of the tyre also changes from 235 mm to 215mm. so you get 10mm more rubber thickness to sit on but your footprint, the width of tread that stands between you and oblivion is 20mm less. My experience on Golfs is that the smaller wheel will give better fuel economy due to it having less rolling resistance but that will be at the expense of stability in corners and general handling.
I test drove a Tig last week and took it down some B & C roads and I thought the ride was pretty good on 17's
