Simple testing the water question..... Subjective and regional no doubt...

What's the going rate for a 2nd variable/long life main dealer service for my 2010 (60) A4 Avant, 2.0 diesel......? (covered circa 36k miles)

I live between Leeds & York, but as I frequently travel the country so I could use a non-local dealer if the price was right... Come-on-down..!!!

Cheers

Your car qualifies for these fixed price servicing costs. I don't know whether your particular service would be a major or interim.

Its a proper con isn't it - they know they have you by the short and curleys when its in warranty but they then drop the price to try and stop you from going to an independent.....

I agree, £350 is a joke..!! I paid £195 for the first one, and it didn't agree with me or my wallet at the time..!

I think I may need to use my brazen Yorkshireman attitude, and negotiate..... Let's face it, it's only an oil and filter(s) change, isn't it..?!!

I paid £260 at Southend Audi for a oil and filter change. Irritating thing was I could have got a local independent to do it for £119....will definately be using them next time instead.

When my car went in for its 20K service, I reminded them twice that the oil+filter had been changed already, but they changed it again anyway, I complained and to be fair they refunded the entire price of the service (£168) rather than just the price difference of the oil+filter ... so top marks for customer satisfaction to Nottingham Audi ...

Sorry to bump but thought it better than cluttering with a new thread.

Audi's now done 33k miles, due first service by me (had inspection service at 15k).

Indicator now at "Service due!"

Rang local dealers for a quote - £280 "longlife and inspection" (includes, pollen/fuel/oil filter and oil change)

Another dealer - £450 for "full service" (includes oil change, fuel/pollen filter change, inspection)

I'm confused! Car will be 3yrs old in a few months.

Options?

which dealer quoted £280 and which dealer quoted £450?

More quotes: £380 and £280

Wonder if that's the best I'll get.

Wish I had shopped around sooner.

Esh, not sure if I should say which particular dealers. Still hoping to get a better deal via haggling.

Where on earth are people getting a service for £190?

There's no harm in mentioning the dealers - it'd help me to understand what sort of garages/names are giving the quotes.

Carlisle Audi came up with the grand price of £450!

:p

Edinburgh Audi after a wee haggle.

Reputable Indy with Audi parts - £220.

Called back to book and now I'm told that actually, I was wrongly quoted earlier. Now they want £380! Apparently, the first quote (£280) was just for oil change/inspection. Fuel and pollen filter are extras that push the price up! Not what I was told yesterday!

My, oh my, next year I'm going indy.

Has anybody ever dealt with a4audi by any chance?

Done and dusted. Nice 61 plate courtesy car. 3ltr engine :D

However:

Disappointed really, this is supposedly a car that has received "a complimentary valet" by the dealer. Should have told them not to bother, seems all they did was splash water on the car and do a quick vacuum inside. Dunno if they were rushing but that's shoddy. Bird poo from before the service is still there!

Will have to give the car some TLC later, get a proper valet not into DIY myself unfortunately.

Shame on you dealer. Shame.

When mine's in, I do tell them not to bother. When I do it, it takes me half a day, I don't want someone unknown rushing it in half an hour ...

I agree.

I feel guilty, not been taking care of my car. Has a dull look nowadays. Not a pearlescent paint but should have some shine. I saw an 04 plate Audi parked at the dealer and it put mine to shame. It was gleaming.

I don't have the time or the inclination to do it myself. Any reputable valets in the Borders? How much does it usually cost to pamper your ride, ballpark figures. Thanks.
