Hi all, nice site you have here loads of information... i did do a search before posting this but i couldn't seem to find the answer so any suggestions would be appreciated.
i'm looking to buy a Bora TDI but i'm not sure whether to get the 130 or the 150. The reason i ask is i will be getting it chipped as soon as i get it. The 130 will rise to 163 bhp with the torque going from 310 to 405 and the 150 version will rise to 182 bhp but the torque will only rise to 380.
Bear in mind i'm no mechanic but friends tell me the more torque the better... does this count in this situation even though the bhp is lower on the 130?
Generally i'm looking for a better performance car and generally quicker so please explain this to me in simple terms ;-)

we had somewhere a thread on this but relating to the mk4 golf, so basically the same car. the general consensus seemed to be that the 130 was the better enging as the 150 had far too much turbo lag.

130 is easy remapped to 180 and the 150 to around 190. I would buy the 130 as it will be cheaper and there will be nothing in it when both remapped.

As well as paying an extra premium for the 150, they seem to suffer a fair bit from camshaft failure as well.

Saying all that, if you want serious power beyond a standard map, the 150 don't forget has a front mounted intercooler.

But then saying that, look up info on 'Devontopia' who has a 130 engined fabia which is pushing about 250bhp.
