rear fog light on b5.5 est

Hi this has probably been answered somewhere but i cant find it very simple.
I noticed that my nearside foglight isnt working(rear) but on close inspection there are only 5 wires going to the unit and 6 on the other side should i have foglights on both sides or is it just redundent. thanks

only has one rear fog on offside in uk...

EU rules = driver's side only.
Some people add another bulb for a laugh on cars where that is the only difference.
