1st Gear problem

Audi A4 2.0tdi 170 SE, Advice required with regards selection of 1st gear after a long run, (350 miles). Recently am having trouble selecting 1st gear after long runs, (this happens after the car is brought to a standstill) no problems with other gears, quick solution I found to over come this is to select 2nd, then 1st.

I had a b7 and it done the exact same thing and yeah the solution was 2nd then first as well

Or just get in the habit of selecting 1st while the car is still creeping forward slightly.
