Good Afternoon, Im new.
I have a 2010 3.0TDI Q7 with 24.500 miles on the clock, It is the first diesel I have owned.
When driving in London the gearbox travels between 1st and 3rd and back down again, when I try to then hit the throttle I have a delay before any response, then the power comes in hard. I have been to Audi twice and they report nothing wrong. I have driven a 2008 and did not have the problem, apparently this a different software version. Tried a brand new Q7, same problem. I know this reads like a novel but is it me or the car? Best regards.

Does it go into 2nd fine?

I think its just a thing with autos and big lazy diesels with most of the torque low down in the revs.
