I am looking for the long coding from an A3 that uses the front sidelights (halogen headlights) as DRL's.

Better still would be the Binary code's for the Bytes that cover the DRL's.

Can any one able to help me out please?
I could even scan your car for the codes if you are in Kent, and make any adaptations you require.

TIA.

Do you have a pre-facelift car or facelift car?

I am after a scan from a facelift car.

I am trying to code the front sidelights as DRL's on SWMBO's 2010 TT with halogen headlights (which is based on the A3 chassis)

So far I can only use the headlights, fog lights or both together - all which are dimable with VCDS, just not having any joy with setting them up the way an A3 is, as most of the bits are blank, so it is very much trial and error, and neigh on impossible if I need two of these bits enabled.

There is a brightness setting If I recall in long code helper address 09 byte 16 ish I think

you can simulate long code helper

click on Lcode

copy and paste your code then you can play around

Short intro:

VCDS use:
When LCode is started within VCDS, the Long Coding is automatically inserted from VCDS.
The right information text is also loaded from a LBL or XPL file.
Use [Arrow Down/Up] to search for the item(s) you want to change or check.
Add or remove a marker with left mouse to change the current Coding.
After the first change is made, there is a menu [Back to standard] available,
If you want to go back to original Coding.
After there is made a change in Coding, the current Coding is in Windows buffer.
So when you close LCode, the new Coding is copied in the second line of VCDS.

Press [ESC] to close the program.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LCode standalone use:
Paste Long Coding from VCDS into 1) from the ECU's available [01] [09] [19] [46]
[Arrow Down] to 2) and load the right XPL or LBL file.
[Arrow Down] to 3) to search for the item(s) you want to change.
Make or remove a marker with left mouse to change the Coding.
After there is made a change in the Coding, the current Coding is in Windows Buffer.
So when you close LCode, the new Coding is available to Paste.

Press [ESC] to close the program.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Short Coding use:
For use of Short Coding insert the complete Short Coding, including all preceding zeros,
E.g. 0131313 taken from an Audi A6 (4F) Module [46].
See text explanation in "Balloon help" under VCDS Coding,
Or choose the car you have at Openobd.org, E.g. Audi A6 (4F) Module [46] go to:
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A6_%284F%29_Comfort_System

http://de.openobd.org/audi/a6_4f.htm#46

Press [ESC] to close the program.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some tips:
If Multibyte Pull-down is pressed just to observe the possible options,
choose the active option again, then the focus is back on the actual byte.

If you don't want to count what number you want to activate,
of the actual byte in menu 3),
use mouse "hoover", the Byte number is shown in the Statusbar.

The length of Coding is shown at the right buttom.

If you enter a "Short Code" manual (less that 5 byte)
you can press [Copy] and the actual definitions of Short Coding is in Windows Clipboard.

You can force "Short Code" by adding a "+" at the start or end, e.g.: +3993 or 0393969+
You can change a decimal number to hex by addaing a "h" at the end, e.g.: 00065493h
You can change a hex number to decimal by addaing a "d" at the end, e.g.: 0000FFD5d
Then press key "Arrow down" on the keyboard.

Press "Insert" to copy binary data from current long coding to windows buffer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In exchange for this freeware program, please send your 00 Auto-Scan values to me:

Looks like this is not going to be as easy as I had hoped, my Byte 0 and 17 are totally different:

Byte 0:

The TT has the following Bytes associated with the lights:

Byte 11:

It is looking that way Chris :( ,
what I was hoping to see on your scan was a bit of info on my blank Bit's:

Byte 11 Bit 0, 1, 4 & 5
Byte 12 Bit 1, 4, 6 & 7
Byte 13 Bit 0, 1, 2 & 3
Byte 14 Bit 1, 4, 5 & 6
Byte 15 Bit 1, 5 & 7
Byte 17 Bit 7
Byte 26 Bit 4 & 5
Byte 27 Bit 0, 1 & 5

But your Bit's are in a completely different order to mine - looks like it might need an e-mail to Dana to see if she can shed any light on the missing Bit's??

That's the way it is unfortunately, pm bearthebruce on here, he's from rosstech and regularly visits this section so he might just see it and reply.

Only other thing I can think of to get the sidelights as drl is if you buy the new xenon headlight with led drl but that would be £1500+ to upgrade to lol

A question, on your partners TT, when you scroll using the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel, does it bring up the list of radio stations on the DIS or does it change the station for you?

Just wondering as my a3 just changes the station and doesn't display the station list.

I have the double din Concert in my car but upgrading to RNSE once all the bits arrive.

I am in the process of compiling an e-mail to them now.

I am pretty sure the left wheel just changes the stations, whilst the list of stations is displayed on the RNS-E, I will confirm this later for you.
There are also a few clips on youtube showing the RNS-E in use.

I looked back into this today and have cracked it! For anyone interested:

09: Cent. Elect.

Go to Byte18 (yes the one with the code that is masked as '00' and Ross-Tech say do not change unless you know what you are doing, as you will not know what code to revert to if you need to go back to the origonal code!)

My (MY11) TT was coded as:
56 = Halogen headlights RoW (Rest of World) with DRL's Scandanavian (uses the headlights)
I changed this code to:
57 = Halogen headlights NAR (North American Region) this again turns on the headlights for the DRL's but also turn's on the side marker lights (front and rear)

Then go to:
Byte 11, enable PRL's (permanent running lights - there is no other option on my car, which doesn't have xenons) this will turn on the headlights as DRL's,
then go to
Byte 24 and turn the brightness down to 01% - this basically turns off the headlights again (they are still 'on' but at 1% brightness, which is not enough to light the bulbs - 0% would turn themn on to 100%)

Go to the DIS and make sure 'Daytime lights' are ticked.

What i now have is sidelight as DRL's (turn on with the ignition on and the light switch off) which is the best I could hopr for.
