What's the cost for the supply and fit of a new DPF for a golf v 170 (56). Mines coming on more and more and taking longer to go out on the motorway burst . Love the car to bits though and dont fancy removal.

Current mileage-79800.

Dunno if this will help, but this http://www.vwgenuineparts.co.uk/DPF_regeneration.shtml page rcommends A road speeds rather than motorway for DPF regen.

I have a seat Leon fr tdi 170 with the same engine and I had a problem with the DPF. My problem was that it would never regenerate itself. According to seat a replacement would be roughly around £1200 and as the golf shares the same engine I have no doubt that the price would be similar if not the same. Why you dismissing the fact of removal? seat themselves didn't recommend the removal however they said that if the DPF filter wasn't there it wouldn't be the biggest of all problems. With this in mind i took it to and Independent specialist who removed the DPF filter and the car performs like a new car greater mpg fantastic performance and no worries. Has also flown through the emissions test on an MOT.

DPF Fix - 2007 Golf gt tdi 170 (73,000 MILES)
I had many problems after VW recalled the car for new injectors.
- Replace sensor
- Replace Cam cover
- Clean out the EGR
The car has been in Limp home mode 3 times.
I have been told that because I do a lot of motorway driving ( 90 mph in 6 th gear most of the time)
that the exhaust does not get hot enough.
I have now fixed the problem - The DPF filter section was removed and a 1 " diameter hole drilled through the middle of the honeycomb filter.
The car was then remapped to suit the new configuration.

Hi there, I have a golf mk5 gt tdi 170 and was fed up with the dpf light coming on and going into limp home mode, the last straw was when the local vw dealer said that to erase the dpf light, a forced regen would have to be done, and, they did !, unfortunately the dpf has to achieve a 10% regen burn to remove the dpf light. This could not be achieved due to the dpf being saturated. At this point the fact hit me (fear more like!!!) that I would need a new dpf, Mr Vw quoted 1295+vat !!!!!!! . While the horror sunk in, a vw tech give me a number said ring him he would sort it out. To cut an already long story short this chap gave me a price to remove my dpf, remap and back running with no lights whatsoever, for £399, needless to say I snapped his hand off. From that day in june till now I have had, whats been called"trouble free motoring plus an extra 7 mile to the gallon !!!!. I'm pleased to say I'm a dpf removal convert. hope this helps.

Passed mot earlier this month with flying colours, as to emissions, I believe the golf mk5 tdi comes under euro lV emissions, which I believe is 15% soot content, as to euro V emissions, this goes way down to 0.15% (09 plate onwards). Hope this helps.

Hi, Glenwardtaylor,
My injectors were replaced 3 times after the recall, in March/April. I have jsut posted a new thread with dpf problems this morning

Exhaust mgt light, followed by DPF light a few weeks later. (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?138021-Exhaust-mgt-light-followed-by-DPF-light-a-few-weeks-later&p=751819#post751819)

WHo did you get to do the dpf removal? I might have to resort to this .

I'm in Glasgow.

 Have posted before on this problem. I have a 56 plate GT tdi 170 with 45k on the clock and due to the same problem you are incurring, I bit the bullet after being quoted £1200+vat fitted for a new Dpf. Needless to say , when I was told this I was gutted cos I love the car. While in astate of shock at Mr VW, a fairy Godmother (actually a hairy ar**d vw mechanic) came up to me and gave me a phone number to ring, this I did but to cut a long story short I have gone for the dpf removal AND a 235bhp remap (I also found out it saves me about 7 mpg to boot !!!) at a cost of £399 all in. Needless to say the car runs a treat, no warning lights and a more smoother ride thrown in. I what is known as a Dpf removal convert. As for the emissions I have just had it through its MOT and it passed with flying colours. Hope this helps.:beerchug:

Indeed they do! Slightly different to Petrols but they still have emission checks
