So, it being clear on the M27 gave it the boot.
And cough, splutter, revs died, ECM light on dash, limp misfire mode. Just by a slip road. Pulled in, switched off ign, waited one min., switched on again. No fault light and running normally.

Got back home (average mpg 43 using cruise 75mile from Soton) and checked VCDS following morning:

Have checked three times since and have checked all adaptions and coding including throttle. Re-done all the adaptations (from a known good copy) and found throttle adaptation "not adapted". So followed the instructions on the Vag-Com site. But still gives the
same fault when I boot it. And there's a hill that I generally coast down in 2nd (Tiptronic gearbox) giving about 3,500-odd revs
when drifting down. It's a favourite spot for MPS Traffic to do a collar (Bostall Hill, Bexley) That flashed up the warning light too although it went out almost immediately.

I've emailed three times the main dealer where I got the coils' upgrade done. But have been ignored.
Meantime is there anything else I can check in VCDS to give a possible cause? It's always on cyl 4
