Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone else's Jetta sits higher at the rear than at the front?

Mine has a noticably larger wheelarch-to-tyre clearance at the rear than at the front. Is this normal?

I'm not particularly happy with the sloppy/bumpy handling, and knowing that my car's previous owner used to tow a caravan, I'm wondering if the rear suspension could be tired...shocks/springs?

Any info much appreciated.

could it have heavy duty rear springs fitted or some sort of spring assister like a rubber block in the springs to help towing a van.

Hmmm, I'd have no idea if heavy duty springs were fitted (not knowing what normal ones look like in comparison). No sign of any rubber blocks or anything like that.

I pulled up at some traffic lights next to another Jetta yesterday. From what I could see, the other car sat at the same height front and rear.

I have noticed that the back suspension on mine sinks down markedly when I fill up with fuel, and the car handles differently, kind of like it would feel if there was a load of weight in the boot.

Something definitely not right. Might just invest in some Bilstein B4's.

OK, an update on this....

I had a set of Bilstein B4's fitted today, and wow, what a difference! The car handles brilliantly, all the sloppiness has gone and it feels planted to the road. The car now sits evenly front to back.

Both rear shocks were leaking, and the NSF top mount had disintegrated.

If anyone is thinking of a suspension upgrade, but doesn't want to go down the road of lowering, buying new springs and having rock hard suspension, the B4's are definitely the way to go. Perhaps 10% stiffer than normal suspension.
