Brake Warning Light

Hi,
I have just bought my wife a Polo 1.4 sport 03 registration - however, when the previous owner had new brake pads her mechanic broke the brake warning plug near the disc - therefore the light is always on the dash - does anyone know if it is possible just to re-join the wires or do I have to buy a new cable - also do I have to have the warning light turned off by a garage on will it go off if the cable is fixed.

Any info greatly appreciated.

connecting the two wires together will extinguish the light. the light comes on when the circuit is broken, or you could rejoin it, if the pad sensor is still ok.
