View Full Version : Am I missing some trim???

Whilst cleaning the Audi at the weekend, in the centre console between the seats, next to the hanbrake, is a small elongated tray. The 12V socket/Ciggy Lighter is at one end.

Should there be a rubber mat or carpet-type insert on the base of this tray or coin holder?

The reason that I ask is the coins rattle around in here and I think its a bad design, unless sommething is missing!

If it is, does anyone know the P/N for the trim/rubber mat to fit this cubby - or, if you have a look in your A3, could the P/N be on the back or underside of the part?

Thanks for looking.

Cheers

This is the view of mine - ignore the aux as it is an option on my car.

After a quick look the rubber seems to lift up, I'll lift it in the morning as I'm heading to work soon.

I'll report back tomorrow :)

Excuse the dust, cleaning has been ignored :(

Thanks Chris.....I thought something was missing!

One would assume that as mine doesn't have whatever AUX option you have fitted, then the rubber strip would cover the full length of the cubby hole!

Yep, looks like you're missing it alright!

Least I know where the rubber sets into the trim at, I'll have a go at this later.

Wheres your cigarette lighter?

Hi Chris,

The cigarette lighter wasn't with the car when I bought ot off the prvious owner, but thats no issue as I don't smoke!
Instead the socket powers my PDA, Sat Nav and other portable devices!

BTW - I am currently using an FM transmitter with my iPod, as I don't have a connector for this in the car.....was that what your AUX socket is for? Can these be retrofiited to the Concert audio system? DIY or dealer job?

So where's your 12v then? Is it in below the arm rest?

Had a look and the part number is below

I'm sure the longer one would be similar p/n so have a look online but I'm sure if you went into Audi and explained what you needed they could find the correct part.

Or an online breakers?

I think the aux can be added easily, I've seen guides online showing how to do this. I'll have a better look when I get home later on.

The radio looks like this when the aux is active

Had a look online and according to http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/381570-DIY-Aux-Input-for-Symphony-II the mod doesn't seem too hard to add to the headunit.

If you want the aux in the oem position I'd say its only a matter of buying longer wire and following on from the guide.

Some part numbers
8J0 035 475 - Aux-In Socket - £9.78\

000 979 009 - Repair Wire - £2.75

Shouldn't be too hard to do eh?

Chris, my 12V is in front of the coin tray.

Am going to get an Aux input now to use my iPod. There is a kit from Audi but looks pretty pricey.
I'll have a search around the forum and see what I can find.

I'm pretty useful with a soldering iron and crimp tool!

BTW - I have seen phots of trim levers or tools being used to prise interior panels off.....any ideas of where I can get a set of these?

Thanks

With regard to the trim piece....I have got this from Audi local dealer (Swindon)

P/N is 8P0 863 301 4P K

Price @ £2.22

Just in case anyone else needs one!

Glad you got it sorted out!

You can buy this from Kufatec for Aux retrofit http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p9220_c48_Aux-In-Jack---Retrofit---Audi.html

Pretty simple to do, plug 3 wires into the quadlock and code the car for aux now fitted which is a 30 second job ;)
