After thinking I was going buying a a4 avant and going in and for pretty much the same price I ordered a A6 avant s-line Daytona grey. Got the am lighting package. Upgraded leather. Memory seats and sat night. Still waiting on build date but will hopefully have it start of June.

Congrats! Build dates were coming in at the end of June back at the start of March. I'd speculate July/August is more likely.

Really I ordered the 14th. He said built date would be 3rd week in may and delivery either first or second week in June. Have me panicking a small bit now.

nice choice. I went into the audi garage looking for a 1yr old a4 and ended up with a new a6! albeit one from the dealers group stock, rather than your made to order car. sounds like a very nice car. I saw mine at the weekend (delivery held up by airbag warning light) in daytona grey with 19" alloys and the colour works really well with the car. Hope the delivery date isn't too far into the future! I'm struggling to contain myself waiting until after the easter weekend!!

Mine's for a 2.0tdi Multi. IIRC it's week 24 or 25. That was ordered on 2nd March.

I ordered mine the first week of March and am being told last week of April or first week of May at the moment. Fingers crossed!

I'm half lucky I didn't order first week as in the 2 week a limited edition upgrade came out. Memory seats, sat nav(not standard in Ireland) and upgraded leather which in the se is about 400 euro in the sline it's 1400 euro and as Audi never printed that it doesn't apply to the sline Audi are footing the cost, also 3 years warrenty and servicing for 1500 euro. Saving myself a fair few k's at that.

What model and options? What build week have you got in the system? That sounds quick!

Was told week 14 from memory. Have gone for an Avant 2.0 tdi multitronic, s-line, tech pack, dab. Was quicker than the dealer expected too!

Makes my extra 10+ weeks suck real bad. Cancelled order matched up maybe?

Wow - that sucks indeed!

I'm sure I'm just lucky at the moment but I've learnt not to count my chickens with car orders. My theory is that it takes so long to build them because they are assembled by little mice using tiny tools - nothing else can explain why it takes so long!

Mine took five more weeks than the salesman promised, and seven more than he indicated.

You can translate a week number to a calendar date here http://www.epochconverter.com/date-and-time/weeknumbers-by-year.php

In terms of knowing your allocated build week, you'll have to ask your dealer.

Edit to add, until your car is on the verge of being built, the date allocated is only an estimate.

For what it is worth my last two A4's have taken for ever to arrive and on went well beyond the advised date.

I'm interested on the A6 deals winging around........I have been in touch with Jag, BM and Audi, the latter with not a great deal of joy.

BM - info back with one day, Jag - two days, both with demo cars offered and craacking deals. My local Norwich dealer in Norwich......nothing for 8 days now after my enquiry, so they can shove it...

I can't comment on Audi garages in uk but in Ireland it's not just shopping around for prices I found an issue with it was shopping around for a salesman that was helpful/ knew his stuff and was actually interested in selling the car to me. Ended up traveling 300 miles just to buy it rather than about 2miles down the road.

I can give you the details of the guy I dealt with if you like? No nonsense and good communication. I gave him a price, he matched it, I bought the car! They are also allowing me to have my own detailer in to prep the car and have agreed to leave all the delivery protection on and not wash it.
