Hi guys

This morning a guy came from a remap company to do my v6 tdi. Guy went to get another cable never came back. Dont answer his phone either. Now the car wont start and thers a buzzing noise coming from underneath the hood. The car is a 54 plate passat v6 tdi 163 bhp. Also on the car is in park and the display shows as is in all the gears. Any sugestions please. Already tried to disconect the battery and left if for 15 minutes hoping will reset the ecu no joy

oh dear, the guy who came to remap your car was he an internet find or a company that does remapping? normally (crasher or martin will put me right if ive got this wrong) when the auto box shows your in all gears its when the box ecu is having a bad time of it, normally when they have been under water, it sounds like he has tried to map yours and messed it up big time, but i could be wrong (hope i am and the guy comes back and fixes it for you)

Bit of update

After reading through forums i called a guy from Vis remaps in South Manchester, he came down and tried several systems on to my car and the vag tool. None of them even read the ECU info. So he removed the ECU took it away and came back two days after. Refited it and happy days. The guy who initialy atempted the remap he tried to upload a file twice the size of the original file, also he unpluged his laptop half way through the process. So from that time my car started to think shes a toaster. Vis tuning replaced the eprom chip and reloaded one of their maps. He reckons im puling arond 210 bhp. I will confirm this in a few weeks when il have the car on the dyno. My advice guys is use a well establish tuning company and stay away from cheap and nasty so called tuners. All in total it cost me £320 wich is a fraction for what Vw want for a new ECU thats £1250

Another hit and run remap specialist, I hear of this sort of thing all the time. If you have a remap done, TAKE the car to where it is being done, that way they cannot run off and leave you in the ****.

should the company be named and shamed so no one else suffers at his in-experienced hands ?
i would discuss it with some moderators first !!!

Unfortunately there are guys around who try to use generic files not knowing exactly what size the file is and even if it will be a match for the original file! it only takes 1byte out and you can stuff things up. Sometimes if BDM tool is available then a fix can be made, but you still need to find a FULL original file to re-upload first.
Sorry to hear this has happened to someone on here but i can't stress enough that it is always the best to try and use a forum sponsor even if it means paying a little more, although many of us try and give forum members rates as it is in our interest for the nice feedback we get.
Glad it's all sorted now though.

I think this would have been a Bosche edc15+vm - so would have needed a chip change rather than BDM read but completely agree with AP here - use a reputable company - check them out on companies register first - only use one with an address and landline telephone number on their website - question them about their insurance ( all Viezu dealers have underwritten insurance )
I have heard and seen some real horror stories over the years but hardly ever from the "reputable names" and please dont just buy your remap on price alone - cheap thing no good- good thing no cheap

Yes, please feel free to name the company.

If they've any morals at all, they'll reply to the thread with a resolution (if you need any help, send me a PM).

If they don't, may they burn for many years in internet hell.

After reading this thread I did some more research on a remap company I was going to use he was great I went to him he had loads of equipment and explained everything he was doing at each step including a cuppa he did have to use a couple of different leads as the new file didn't write straight away
Great advice on here thanks the company I used was Eco power remaps in Doncaster

Really sorry the late reply, in the end the guy who attempted the remap in first place has paid the full price for the repair, so im quite happy with the result. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and hope it will not mess again, still don't understand why he ran away.Very pleased with the car now after the remap. I need to get it on the rollers and get a print out. Is so much responsive and it will get to 130 in no time. The fuel economy has gone up aswell
