There are a lot of horror stories out there about changing the fuel filter on the 2.5 TDI so, as I have just done it, I thought I'd add to the knowledge base.
You will need
1 x Filter - I used a UFI 2442400 (from opie oils) - £20.16 inc vat
2 x Jubilee Clips size 16 (if not already fitted with Jubilee Clips)
1 x 10mm spanner (easier with flex head rachet)
Screwdriver and Pliers to remove clips
about 1 litre of clean fuel
I also bought a filter valve from Audi - Valve 057 127 247 J - £22.81 inc vat
This was incase the old one broke on removal
If this happens you may need
2 x Jubilee Clips size 12
I understand that this model does not have a lift pump, the injection pump sucks the fuel from the tank. So to help this I filled the tank before starting work.

1 - Clamp all 4 hoses close to the filter as above.
2 - Remove the back 2 hoses.
3 - Remove the clip and prise the valve up from the bottom with a large screwdriver.
DO NOT PULL ON THE HOSES
4 - undo the 10mm filter clamp nut and remove the old filter.
5 - Position new filter in holder.
6 - Fill with clean fuel - it will take about a litre.
7 - connect hoses and tighten clips.
8 - check filter is full of fuel.
9 - carefully push valve into position - (new o'ring is on new filter)
10 - tighten the 10mm filter clamp nut.
11 - remove all hose clamps.
12 - start engine.
Engine started straight away, I ran at 2000 revs for a couple of minutes but there was no stuttering or hesitation at all.
From start to finish 20 mins - next time will be a lot quicker.
Hope this helps someone.
Regards Jeff
