Audi A3 2.0 TDI 2008 onwards - 5dr or 3dr pilers?

Hi, looking for an A3 at the moment, just wondered if any knew if the door pilers are further back on the 3 door over a 5 door? I know the 5 door is 8cm's longer, just wondering if they've kept the front door size the same but just lengthened the car.

I'm pretty sure the front doors are longer on the 3 door than the 5 door body.

3dr is longer as I have both, I find the 5dr a slight inconvenience purely for resting arm on & seating position, but not major.
