Hi, newbie here.
I got my A3 2.0 TDI nearly a year ago, its 08 reg, 5 door. Well impressed with it. Only badge it has on the back though is an A3 badge.
One thing that has been puzzling me, on the V5 document, it states its a Quattro, and when i was getting insurance they told me it was Quattro. But there is no other evidence that it is on the vehcile or in the handbook etc.
Is there a fools way of checking if it is or not, or is there a audi guru who could check for definate if i gave them the reg number?
Many thanks
Chris

Just look under the back end. If it has drive shafts and a differential for the rear wheels then it's Quattro. Takes ten seconds to kneel down and look!

I was pretty sure that all Quattros were badged as such. But i suppose you don't know what the previous owner may have removed. However, like Issac said... easy way to tell at a glance.

I would of thought so as well, but whats thrown me is the fact insurance company im with tell me its quattro along with the V5 doc, its hard to tell from glancing underneath as the pan is all covered front to back

It doesn't appear to be a Quattro according to MyCarCheck. Probably better to check with a Audi dealer or get it up on a ramp.

It is a front wheel drive TDI Sport, not a quattro.

How can a V5 be wrong though ?

Because it came from the DVLA...

I see mistakes on many V5's, most turn out to be personal imports. When I used to bring a few cars in late 1990 early noughties I found it a battle to get my local DVLA office to log the cars accurately.

Years ago ago I bought a W reg A3 and it was listed as 3 door rather than 5 door. The dealership (not Audi) did not even notice!

I have also had a car that DVLA had wrongly interpreted the colour.

In both cases I simply edited the form sent it back and DVLA returned it with the correct detail.

Just try & do a quick standing start on a wet road, the traction control light will flash or the front wheels will spin uselessly, if it pulls away with no fuss then it's a quattro. Simple.
