Howling

My audi a4 tdi 2.0 howls when I accelerate the noise use to be subtle until yesterday now its sounds like a wolf every time I accelerate? the sound is comming from under the bonet? can any body help plz?:zx11:

I've never noticed this noise till recently when I changed from single din to double din. I haven't completed the conversion yet, so the panel's are not secure and I hear engine noises now.

Don't think it's a problem tbh, but keeping an eye on this topic just incase...

My previous 2.5Tdi had a distinct turbo whine but it didnt change in 2yrs and the car ran well.Present 2.5 has no noticeable turbo noise but there are lots of differences which are hard to explain but they add character

Check all the boost hoses from the turbo, through the intercooler and up to the manifold. If the howling has become quite distinct then there's a good chance you have a split in one of them.

Take your time and go over them carefully paying attention to joints where clips tighten around them. Sure sign on a leak will be an oily residue on surrounding items.

Hey!! guess wot? you guys were all right the turbo went last night clouds of smoke coming out of car now (so much for going on holiday next month) can anybody reccomend a good place to buy a turbo for a resonable price? apart from audi

Could be EGR Valve. Mine died with loads of black smoke....
