Retrofitting DIS to A3 2008 SE

Hi all, I'm after some help pn the above topic... Always grateful for the advice on here!

Are there any guides to retrofitting DIS to an A3 that doesn't have it?

I doubt I could do the whole job myself, so might need to take in to a specialist, however I may be able to get the necessary parts from a local breakers.

Can anyone advise what parts I need? Instrument cluster and wiper stalk obviously, but that's all I know. Also, will changing the instrument cluster reset the mileage? (don't want it to!)

The car is a pre-facelift 2008 without DIS, can a post facelift white display be retrofitted?

Been on jobs for 2-3 days working away.

Basically you wont be able to do any yourself if you dont have the programming tools.

You'd need cluster (red or white), new wiper stalk, possibly new steering cu & slip ring, mileage correction as you wont buy new thats for sure & then everything coded in with immo & steering systems.

I can certainly arrange this all, but depends on few things like location, time, costs etc.

I don't have the tools, so would welcome the help.

I can get the parts from a 2011 donor car. Do you have part numbers for the steering cu & slip ring (might be able to get these off the same car, though I heard there may be a compatability issue?). Definately need mileage correction.

Location is Cheshire, no rush for the job to be done (so could wait if you were ever in the area) but I would need to act quickly to get the parts from the donor car. Could you / would you be able to help and what would you charge?

2011 slip ring & cu wont work on your car, I can supply these parts, but you need to decide on whether you want a white or red dis, white being the better.

I can offer the install & mileage correction in the south east if you want a drive down, as I use a dealer to do all my cluster jobs for security reasons, but the northern dealers have been a bit clicky of late I've heard.

I'd go for white DIS, coming of the 2011 donor car along with the wiper stalk (in fact, are there any look & feel changes to the 2011 stalks? I could get all three stalks so that they match, won't make much of a difference to the price).

Where abouts in the South East... Kent may be a bit far, this side of the M25 may be OK ! Finally if you could let me know a price for the slip ring & CU, and doing the job, I can then decide on if I still want to do this. PM is fine if you'd prefer !

Ok lets tone this down a bit, there's no need to create friction over a misunderstanding IMHO.

Mike I really do appreciate you stating what actually transpired mate, I do & I thankyou for adding that info, but lets not turn this into anything more than it is.

Its true, I was PM'd & asked to help a guy out, I didnt come on here to offer services direct from myself, the OP asked me directly if I could help him out which PM's show, I do have contact with a dealer I use who is who I would of sent the OP to if he wanted the cluster coded in, not through myself, so hopefully that clears up that area.

But I have been in contact with the Moderator & we have discussed the situation & put points of view across which I respect & hopefully my POV has come across as was meant.

I am new to this particular forum, I do want to help people now & continuing where I can & time permits, so I'd like to get along with with all concerned, so lets leave it at that please, no need to get out of control, more important things to worry about :)

Audi will charge you £700 just for a cluster only, not installed & that's not including the stalk or installation of this, plus immo coding, test drive etc, so probably £1k or more from them as hourly rates are usually £100 approximately.

This latest white dis lcd , does it have the changing gear suggestions display (ie 2 ==> 4) on it aswell?

You would only get suggested gear on manual & also if the other modules support the system, no guarantees as this was usually tied in with economy features.

Hello. can someone please help me to code the wiper lever using vcds?I already have the cluster coded. my car already had cruise control. I didn't have the wiper lever yet when coding the cluster. here I have now mounted. but I need to get it working. can someone help me please i own VCDS. Thank you
