Wheel refurb?

Hi guys.

Bought a set of B8 SE 17" wheels this week for next to nothing. They are marked but are all straight and true.

I was thinking of having them professionally refinished in a darker, perhaps gunmetal grey.

What do you think?

They'll be going on to my black B7 avant, which is lower than stock.

I can have the faces professionally refinished for £150.

Looks nice in gun metal grey.
Have to say though....not sure how good they would look on a black car.

Mine is black too and I often think that a lighter colour is nicer.

Ultimately, it's your shout and it doesn't really matter what others think.
I'd be intersted to see your car in full if you go for it - I might consider getting my rs6 alloys done in a similar colour if it looks good

I've had this debate in my head for ages now- the BBS RX2s on the MK3 anni are getting refurbed next month and I was going to go with gunmetal, but now I've changed my mind and going Brilliant Silver.
I've had 3 black cars now and you can't beat shiny clean silver against the black.
Conversely the darker colour alloys look really well against a white or silver car IMO.

For me I'd go with the gun metal but maybe not quite so dark. I had a new a4 loan car which was black with gun metal alloys. I'm after a set for my black a4 now, down to individual choice though.

Might be worth doing a little homework, I was of the impression that the centre bore of the B7 and previous Audi rims is 57.1 mm but the B8 rims have a smaller centre bore measurement, please check before ploughing any money into the re-furb

Its the other way around....the B8 has a larger bore (66.6) than the B7....I have the exact same wheels on my A6 which has a 57.1 bore and used spigot rings to ensure correct fitting....available on ebay cheaply...around s fiver for four.

This is what they look like on a black car in silver.....albeit an A6 Avant.

Whilst silver looks good against black, I think anthracite/gunmetal looks better and is far less common. I've got some wheels which are finished in "satin graphite" - a kind of eggshell almost like a Teflon frying pan. They're currently on a Lava grey car and look great especially when just cleaned, but they really need a black car to do them justice.
