Hi,04 Passat highline estate,218,000 miles.I checked my expansion tank ,it looked low so i topped it up,it took 2 litres of water.Next day i checked it again after my blowers were blowing cold air, when they were set to max,it seemed low again, so i drove home to get some water, soon as i drove off the heaters went hot again, but when i got home five minutes later,it took another two and a half litres of water. There are no obvious signs of a leak,no water in the oil or vice versa, any ideas?

Remove the bellypan/skidplate/underenginecover/whateveryouwanttocallit and see if you can see any signs of coolant and/or water.

as Sam has said look for a leak, the amount of water you are losing you should be able to see a leak, if not get it pressure tested at a garage mate

Usually the bottom corners of the radiator rot. You may not see alot of water because it evaporates.
