View Full Version : Sharp creaking from NSF suspension

Hello all,

I'm after a bit of advice please...

My Jetta's suspension has started creaking from the front near side. Over speed humps it's a prolonged 'groaning' creak, but when going over things like small potholes or undulations in the road it's a short sharp creak. Not a sound from the driver's side suspension.

I've had the underneath of the car inspected, but all bushes are reported as being OK. To me, the creaking seems to be coming from higher up the strut somewhere. Can shocks, springs or top mounts creak? Interestingly, I had to have the tracking done when I bought the car, the nearside was reading as -7 degrees, which I believe is wayyy out?!

Also, the car's handling generally doesn't feel very sharp, it generally feels 'heavy' and cumbersome.

Any ideas where I should start looking? Don't want to end up spending loads of money like I did on my previous Bora!
