I think my Phaeton is great (2008 3.0V6 TDi) but ....
I was surprised to find corrosion causing bubbles under the paint on the doors.:( The plastic trims at the bottom of the doors have also been pushed out, presumably by corrosion underneath.

VW have agreed to repair it as it is a known issue of dis-similar metal reaction. I was told it affects cars up to 2010 when they finally sorted it at production.

Have any UK owners on this site had the repair done and has there been any recurrence of the problem ?

Does anyone know whether this problem affects 59 registered Phaetons ?

What do I need to look for when evaluating a prospective Phaeton purchase ?

Its not corrosion as we know it and it only affects the doors, boot, bonnet, because these parts are painted and not dipped where the body is dipped. It is the protection coat they spray onto the panels before the under coat and top coat and there is a reaction between the protection coat and under coat. They know about this problem and will repaint it for you if any spots come up. I had this on my 57 plate A6 and they repainted all 4 doors. But they did say that if it had been painted before ie accident or something then it wouldn't be covered. lucky for me it had never been painted before

Hi, can I ask if you resolved your door issues with VW please?, I have a 2011 showing all the corrosion issues and hoping that VW will honor the issues raised!
