I have a 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro with 65k. Recently when starting first time from cold there is a knocking noise from the engine. This stays for around 10 minutes before disappearing when engine is warm and every subsequent engine start that day is fine. Next morning its back and so it continues with each first morning start. I have had engine flushed with STP and oil & filter changed as someone suggested 'sludge' - do I now need to have the sump taken off and cleaned or has anyone experienced a similar problem/noise with another cause altogether?:confused:
Just to add - there appears to be no problem with oil pressure as oil light does NOT come on and when 'self check' is selected it goes through usual checks including Oil and comes back as 'OK' - worried now that it has nothing to do with Oil/lubrication and is the beginning of something more serious (and costly!). Engine runs perfectly smoothly after this initial hick-up with no loss of power?
