As I turned a corner up a hill, in my 2006 Q7 3.0 TDI .... where I normally put my foot down to speed up.. This time there was no kick-back... and then I heard a loud 'poof' sound ... and then could not get speed up over 20mph. no matter how much I pressed the accelerator.... .. I left it overnight .. and drove it again this morning.. there is no glow plug flashing light ... but I just cannot get it to accelerate above 20mph ... and there is white smoke that comes out of the exhaust when I press the accelerator hard ..

There are no VCDS/VAG-COM errors in Engine section any more... but last night immediately after I got home.. I ran the diagnostics and these came up :

Update for anyone interested...

Problem resolved.. it was a loose clip on inter-cooler pipe.... where the o-ring had worn down.. eventually popped off under high pressure....a good mechanic friend, replaced the o-ring and tightened clip ..and all is OK again.

i had something similar and the engine had gone into "protection mode" basically the engine has a mode that allows you to go but not very fast so as to limit any further damage. maybe thats it and it needs to be re-set ??
