Hi, Can anyone say if this fault code is likely to be the result of a bad connection or something graver.
Any hints on sorting it would be welcome.
Needless to say, my airbag light is on!:zx11:
Thanks.

Check the connector under the seat if its the side bag, common for them to become disconnected on vag cars, if its connected ok, then disconnect & scratch the pins a little to see if its a bad conductor.

Strangely elsa shows N131 as Front passenger side airbag igniter 1, but also shows as you say, anyway should check both systems then to be sure :)

Thanks both. I'll check out the underseat contacts first and see if the sorts it.

I have now investigated the underseat contact. The yellow plug and socket with three very fine pins.
All looked fine. Clean and dry. I nudged the pins in case they were not making good contact in the socket, but with no effect.
Removing the plug and starting the engine produced this pair of fault codes:
2 Faults Found:
00589 - Airbag Igniter 1; Passenger Side (N131)
001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
01218 - Side Airbag Igniter; Passenger Side (N200)
001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent - MIL ON
Clearing and replacing the plug simply brought back the first of those, which suggests to me that the contacts are probably fine and the trouble is elsewhere.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to check the airbag igniter contacts which may be causing this fault code?
Where is this igniter? Can it be easily replaced?
Thanks.

Hey man, did you ever get the issue resolved? My car is throwing the same error code.
