Hi,
Has anybody else got a problem with entering Postcodes into the Nav System??
If I enter my home address using the street name, I can find my house number and the sytem navigates to it with no problem at all. However, if I try to find my address by entering the postcode, most of the house numbers in the street (including mine!!) are missing.
I have now tried this with several addresses and it seems to be the case that the system cannot find most of the house numbers if the street is searched for using the postcode. It looks like there is some corruption in the indexing on the Nav disk. Is this just my disk, or something generic with the current version of the Nav disk. I did raise the question with the Audi sales rep from whom i bought the car a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for a reply.
Regards,
Mike

Mike,
When I use the postcode, I don't bother with the street or number and this seems to work well. I will try using streets and numbers and let you know how I get on.
Interesting! The whole of my street has the same postcode, so if the nav doesn't allow selection of numbers it sounds like it could be fun!!
Sigh. I was hoping to avoid software issues in my new car with 3G+, but it looks less than promising...

PS Lee is now at Maidstone Audi, so you'd have abit of a run for him to have a look at it!! Bet he's gutted!!

Hee hee. Did he go there to get away from me? :) Oh... wait! If Lee has gone, which poor Master Tech will get lumbered next time? ;) You're safe until the end of April anyway, so no need to look for a job in Aberdeen just yet :)

What have you ordered?
I will whisper it here (since it is the A7 forum) and hope nobody else hears... I have ordered an A6 4G - the spec is here:

It's close to an A7. Only one digit off. It's an easy mistake to make. Honest! :)

Shabazmo,
Did you ever get to try out the post code feature on your car??
Regards,
Mike
I don't get my hands on it until 27th April. PM. Hopefully early PM. In fact, one second after midday would be good! :)

Hi Mike,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I have just gone ourside and tried a few addresses. You are right. Most streets have only a limited numbers, so you are right in saying that most street numbers are missing. I will bring this up with Audi at my next service and might get a disc upgrade.
Does the car have a satnav disc? I thought that the navigation information was loaded onto a hard drive. Does anyone know?
I think Nav High is HDD based and Nav Low is run from an SD card.

Hi Shabazmo,
I spoke to the dealer where I bought the car today. The salesman tried to use the satnav (High version, like mine) on a car in the showroom and had the same problem. He suggested talking to one of the Master Technicians in the service department and so as I am going to be in the dealer's area on Monday, I will call in and see what they have to say.

Mike

I also visited the dealer where I bought the car yesterday and saw one of the Master Techs. I showed him the problem and it was also reproduced on one of the showroom cars. He has put me on a list for a software update as soon as one is available. He also said that he needed to do a scan of the error logs, but was unable to do so at the time as I had arrived at the end of the day and was too near to closing time. He did say that if I contacted him and took it back during the day, he would raise a technical query with Audi. I will let everyone know what happens.

Mike

Mike, I look forward to the next update. On a different issue, does anyone know how and when the maps get updated and the latest version that is out.

I don't know if this is a little off topic but I noticed recently that when I had selected a couple of destinations from the Audi online service (from my web browser at home) and 'sent' them to the car, the car received them but could not find the addresses when I wanted to start the navigation, the postcodes on the car system did not match up. Was this just my bad luck of picking 2 addresses that both were problematic, or has anyone else had the same experience (or positive)?
