Hi,

Can anybody recommend a water-cooled Volkswagen independent in the North West?

I'm specifically looking for someone to service a relative's 2002 Volkswagen Polo 1.4 petrol (9N). The vehicle is located in Preston, but they're prepared to travel anywhere within a 20 mile or so radius. The car's warranty has long since expired and for routine servicing it's not necessarily cost-effective to use a franchised Volkswagen dealership.

Cheers, 8Z0

I`ve also used Tameside VW, based in Ashton Under Lyne...

Bloke really knows his stuff and is not a rip off merchant.

I will go there for anything I cant do.
Honestly feel that the car is treated better than a main dealer there!

Thanks Mark for the info.

Does anyone know of anything any closer to Preston? Both Ashton-under-Lyne and Walkden are a fair distance away.

Cheers, 8Z0

I use VolkService at Blackpool for my Seat servicing. (Does VolkService class as "independent"? They seem to be straightforward to deal with.) They obviously have good experience of all the VW range. It sounds like you are probably just after a routine service, anyway.

Would not recomend Walkden VW Center see this link for full details of my complaint.

In brief they wrongly fitted brake components on my 51 plate passat.

Interesting as I only live a couple of miles from them. Never used them though.

I can also recommend Volksservice/Blackpool, they bent over backwards to resolve an urgent water-pump issue a while back. They are what Fairways used to be like before they moved to their Crystal Palace opposite the Mercedes garage..... If you need a loaner, ask in advance.

They did all my servicing before I moved away from the area.

Hi,

Am new to the forums, and was wondering, can anyone recommend a VW Specialist in the South Manchester area? I own a Golf Diesel. Cheers.

I recently bought an Audi A6 2.7TDi from VolkService. They also serviced (long life) the car as apart of the sale.

I was very satisfied with the whole process. They seem a very genuine bunch.

A thumbs up to VolkService in Blackpool from me too. Had my SEAT Leon Cupra serviced there and they were friendly, did a good job and all for a reasonable price.

That's the current link for VolkService, haven't used them myself - yet, but with the good reports here may well in the near future.

Hi,

First post and new to the forum so be kind!

has anyone used these guys?

http://www.chorleyauto-volks.co.uk/

how do their prices compare to a main dealer and do they do a good job?

I have a MK-IV Golf GTI Turbo and recently purchased an Audi A4 Avant TDI 130 and would prefer to stay away from main dealers.

many thanks

I used VolkService this week for the first time.

Major service for PD engine at price quoted (no fabricated problems to bump up the final bill)

Very professional, friendly, courtesy car included and the B5.5 Passat is running a lot better than it has in the short time I have owned it (13 months)

Had a niggling noise that appeared after a local Independant fitted new CV boots following an MOT, after they'd had wheels off for brake check, etc it has gone (so far).
