I have water leaking through the pollen filter into the passenger foot well on my Seat Toledo. I've heard similar problems with Passats and Skodas. A VW specialist I talked to said it was a common fault and you need to seal the pollen filter casing using silicon sealant; anybody else had this problem and can suggest a solution?

Hi toledotourer,

I have a Seat Toledo also ( 3 years old). I too have just noticed this problem - water in the front passenger footwell and also in the rear left footwell. Did you manage to get to the bottom of your problem? What was causing it and how did you manage to resolve it? Was it expensive to put right?

HI all I my Audi A4 has just been to the main dealer guess what I have a problem with my central lock unit which is base under the carpet NS front
and the carpet is very wet. They told the problem area is the pollen filter box. After some unbolting yes there is a crappy seal that looks no good at all.I have at the moment dryed the carpet about a week driving with no passanger seat heating on hi AND now sealed the underside of the seal with sealant finger crossed. ADVISE to ALL CHECK UNDER YOUR BATTERY THERE ARE DRAIN OFF POINT ALL BLOCKED ON MY CAR also my drive has a slope up so I am now parking my car with the back up the drive so any rain water hopefilly runs away from this area.

Regarding wet problem in footwell: I took the car to a SEAT dealer in Datchet after an initial (unsuccessful) attempt by me to seal the pollen filter housing. The repair took two journeys to the dealer as a new housing was required as well (not in stock), and of course the pollen filter itself had been rendered uselss by the rain. Total cost, including repair and test using hosepipes, was around £180.
