Having just retired my trusty '98 1.8 20V Passat (with over 210,000 on the clock), I'm now having driveability issues with it's 52 Reg 2.0 20V (ALT engine) replacement.

First off, I noticed while doing a Vagcom check at purchase that the car had a "Clutch Pedal Switch Implausible Signal" error and searching various forums suggested that this error could cause the engine revs to not drop quickly enough when the clutch was depressed.
I've since replaced the switch with one purchased from VW but it's made little, or no, difference to the problem. Before changing the switch, checking Block 66 with Vagcom showed no change when the clutch pedal was pressed but with the new one fitted both the clutch and brake pedal switches can be seen working.
My wife has the same model and year of car and it drives exactly as one would expect, so it's not me being unused to a DBW car. There are currently no faults shown by Vagcom, so no more clues there.
Would be grateful for any suggestions as to what could be causing the problem.

Anybody???
