Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me when Audi introduced Common rail engines and DPFs onto the A3 line of cars? Im interested as I have a sister who is looking to buy one..and wants the newest Common rail line of engines.

Late 2008 was when they updated the A3 with the CR common rail diesel engines. They also gave a face lift to the front and rear end and introduced DRLs daytime running lights. I would guess that makes the earliest plate a 58 but other members might correct me on that .

The TDIe had a PD 1.9Tdi as I have a March 2009 TDIe Sport 1.9 PD.

2009 onwards of 2.0 TDI and 1.6TDI are all common rail.

See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_a3 for further info, broken down by engine code and date.

The first are on a 58plate. On autotrader you can tell by glancing at the economy stats or road tax grouping - although make sure the car you buy is that type though.

When did Audi introduce the double din radio in the a3?

I would quite like one with sat nav (not many have them), and for £500 you can simply replace the stereo for the sat nav module.

2007-ish, you'll need a gps aerial and coding.
