Hi
I hope someone can help, I currently have a 2002 Golf GTI Turbo, with 80k miles on the lcok
Last week, the engine failed
First the VW dealer said cam bet failed, next day they told us actually the water pump had failed and had shreaded the cam belt
Couple of days later they said I also needed to change the cylinder head
finally now they have decided I need a new engine, the costs have rocketed up to almost 4000 GBP
I'm no car expert, but this chain of events doesn't seem reasonable to me at all...and there was no warning from VW of any danger of the water pump failing...and before there failure none of the systems on the car indicated any problem.
However now I look on the web it seems that it's mentioned a lot as a possible faliure.
Is this a reasonable chanin of events, is the VW dealer taking advantage of us.
I'd be greatful for any comments or hints as this is a huge cost for us.
regards
