Hi folks, I bought a 143bhp A4 B8 a few months ago.
Although I'm quite happy with it as my 3rd A4 the clutch has started to develop a rattle.
I was told lastnight by friend that it might require the clutch plate, pressure plate and release baring to be replaced.
I've priced clutch kits at €350 and was wondering if this kit will contain everything needed to do the job?
Should this happen to an 08 A4 with 80k miles?
Many Thanks Sean

Clutch rattle of idle is more probably DMF related I would have thought.

Hi John140, thanks for the quick response. Do you think it's the DMF if the rattle exists only when the clutch pedal is fully depressed, there is no noise otherwise.
Thanks
Sean

Hard to say unfortunately. DMF symptoms are rattly idle but I've never thought about clutch depressed.

I would say probably yes as the DMF is still wizzing round with the flywheel anyway.

Besides its hard to say what is in the clutch that would rattle.

Hi John 140,
Just waiting for clutch kit to arrive, managed to get the garage to pay for it.
I'm going to pay for labour which I understand is a big enough job.
Hopefully this should solve the problem.

Last A4 was an avant, really great car, how's your B8 A4 Avant?
Thanks again John140
Regards
Sean

My current car is flawless at the moment. Got it with 4.5K have now done 16K.
I've had B6 and B7 A4 Avants, and this model is in another galaxy by comparison. Fuel economy is reasonable but not as good as I'd expected.

Can get very late 40's to the gallon but only if you are gentle, ie never go above 75 on the motorway.
Engine is so refined though.
