Leak in VW Polo 2005

I have a problem that I need help with please. My 2005 Polo has an incoming water leak from the rear nearside window/light area. Water goes from the boot via the backseat to the rear nearside footwell. I suspect the rear quarterlight of rear lamp cluster. Has anyone else had this problem or can you advise solutions? Yes it is a very very common Polo 9N1 problem that thankfully (as we have one) the 9N3 does not seem to suffer from. In the vast majority of cases we have to fit a new light unit and seal plus we add a line of a special VAG non setting sealant cord to make sure. I have lost count of the number of 9N1's I have got into that smell fusty and mouldy. In a couple of cases we have found it was due to the bonded side windows leaking. Often the only solution is to pull lots of trims out, sit inside and have someone spray the car until you see the leak.
