Hello all,

I took my 2007 2.0 TDI Golf Plus to my trusted local independent VW specialist in August 2011 for a full service and timing belt change, the vehicle having covered just 48,000 miles.

All went as planned, with everything replaced as expected, including the fitment of a new water pump.

However since this time, I have noticed that the vehicle is returning between 8-12 mpg less than previously, as I usually regularly return a frugal average of between 50-60 mpg.

I have not altered my driving style or changed my fuelling regime so can rule out any personal contributing factors.

The car itself has performed as expected, with an occasional minor hesitacny starting when the clutch is depressed when switched on for the first time.

I have spoken to the specialist where the work was carried out who can see no correlation between the work and the drop off in economy other than to suggest that a known problem with one of the throttle bodies could be to blame?

I have seen similar threads relating to these types of symptoms on those of other VWAG diesel powered marques and would be grateful if someone could offer something more specific as to the cause of this problem. Is there a likely issue with the throttle bodies as claimed or is it a case of less than accurate adjustment during fitting of the timing belt that is to blame?

Many thanks for your time and help in this matter.
