View Full Version : Question Revised A4 Steering Wheel Blank What for?

As the title says really. See attached photo.

Anyone know what the blank button on the left side of the steering wheel would be if it wasn't blank i.e. what option/feature needs to be selected on the car for this to be used?

It is the Mode button to switch between telephone book/stereo info on the dis.

I'm not sure it is as the mode button appears to have moved above the button/scrollwheel on the left side of the steering wheel.

You can see I have no idea really but I like the thought of this option ;-)

I don't know if it's the same wheel, but the new A6 brochure shows a steering wheel with what appears to be a "split screen" button in that position. Maybe it's for MMI 3G+ to toggle the split screen feature? I'm just guessing though. Why not post in the A6 C7 forum to see if current owners know what it's for?

I don't know if it's the same wheel, but the new A6 brochure shows a steering wheel with what appears to be a "split screen" button in that position. Maybe it's for MMI 3G+ to toggle the split screen feature? I'm just guessing though. Why not post in the A6 C7 forum to see if current owners know what it's for?

Your signature indicates you have a 2008 car? The wheel you included a picture of is the new (new, new) steering wheel as fitted to the A7, A6 C7 and the brand new facelift model A4 B8. Do you have a new facelift model A4? If not, the button on the left is the "mode" button to switch between phone list/radio station list/media track list etc.

I've just placed an order for the face lifted A4, due for delivery March/April, hence my curiosity.

Sorry to hi jack the thread but have you been given a build week for your new car?, I have also ordered a new one and have been given build week 9 for end march delivery - hopeing it will come forward!
