Evening all.

My 55 plate 1.8t s-line went into the dealership because it was idling when stationary and the engine management light was on. The good news is that the car was due a coil pack replacement under an Audi recall. Bad news is that hasn’t solved the problem. I am told that the car needs 1) a new one way breaker valveto the engine, 2) throttle body clean, 3) fuel cleaning treatment, and 4) replacement thermostat electrics to cure the ills. To do the work (inc parts) it will cost £600.

They also recommend some other desirable work which will take the total to over £1,000. The car is probably only worth £4,500 at most.

I basically want the car to be safe to drive. I am planning to part ex it in the near future so don’t really want to spend unnecessarily. Do members think all the jobs at 1 -4 are required to cure the idling? If so, any ideas where I can get the parts to take to a local garage.

Any help will be very gratefully received, by me and my kids - they want presents for xmas ; )
