Anyone on here have a A5 3.0 tdi quattro sport and what sort of mpg do they get between fill ups ? Town driving and motorway along with combined ?

Any help appreciated as I'm stuck between either a 2.0 tdi quattro or 3.0 tdi quattro and with fuel prices these days I'm not sure if the extra 70bhp between the two models compared to fuel cost is worth it.

Had an 08 reg quattro sport for 2 weeks now. Got 43mpg (actual) on way home from picking it up with cruise set at 74mph over 220 miles. Havn't worked out local driving yet but looks to be over 30mpg. Wouldn't change it for anything else. Big grin every time I drive it.

I have the 3.0 tdi with s tronic 7 speed. According to the computer with a clear 25 mile run to work in the morning I am averaging 45mpg. That takes 30mins. On the way home according to the computer I get 41mpg, this journey takes an hour, so roughly 30 mins slower traffic and traffic jams. It is all a roads, no dual carriageway. Filling the tank and driving until light on then refilling and calculating volume versus mileage gives ave 38mpg.

I fully expect mpg to increase as the car was new in September and has only done 3,000 miles.
I would recommend the 3.0 tdi, because it is v relaxing and v fast. Also sounds better than a 2.0.

Would the manual give better mpg ?

Not necessarily... the auto boxes are very efficient, but it all depends on your driving style.

For comparison my automatic a6 3.0tdi is doing 21-25 around the twin and anything from 31- 42 on the motorway.

Would a remap improve efficiency if driven carefully of course ? I have read the 3.0 tdi respond well and get up to 55 bhp and 75 nm torque.
