Does anyone know why i have started getting static shocks from the car,its only when you get out after engine has been turned off.
The car is a passat 130 tdi 2002 saloon.i'll be gratefull for any help you can give

It's the cloth seats and it's a very common problem. I, and a lot of other Passat owners, have learned to live with it. Using the window to close the doors is the best solution.

Another possible way to discharge the static without feeling the shock is to hold the metal of the key and then touch the end of the key gently (to avoid damage) the key tip on the body. The static jumps off the end of the key and you avoid the click on your finger!
