Wont start

Been out in the car today, started ok 5 times on my travels, left for 3 hour then went to go out this evening and it just turns over, no sign of firing, it was running fine earlier, no warning lights etc. It's a 1.8T A4 with AWT engine. Any pointers to what I should check first? Thanks.

Had a look through some previous history the independant specialist (Audi VW Centre, Melksham) gave me from their records, which the previous owner has done but had ommitted to tell me! They had it in as a non starter and diagnosed an ECU fault, removed ECU,refitted as all seemed ok and the car started again, as as far as I am aware had been ok until now. With this on mind, I disconnected the battery and went in search of the ECU, found it but decided not to unplug as the Haynes mentions it needs setting up by VW/Audi if it is unplugged, is this correct? Anyway, I had read on another thread about relay 30 next to the ECU playing up, so I pulled it out, took cover off, all seemed ok, so put it all back together, reconnected the battery and it fired up! Not sure what fixed it, but I'm happy it's going again without any repair bill!:D
