Hello kind people,

I've owned my Audi S4 for almost 2 and a half years now. She's just done 140,000 miles. This afternoon (and ever since), when I fully depress the clutch pedal, I can feel a tiny but noticeable vibration through the pedal. I can also hear a noise from outside the car when i do this (although not loud). If I don't depress the clutch pedal all the way it doesn't make a noise. Also the clutch does not slip. Suffice to say this is only when the engine is running.

Does this sound like I need to think about getting the clutch replaced? so far its just an annoyance but wondering if bigger problems are going to happen. Like i said though no clutch slippage at all.

I've heard a clutch replacement is in the region of £1000 for a garage to do it so was wondering if anyone could shed any light what might be wrong and whether I'm looking at a new clutch.

Am thinking of getting Mr Clutch to do a free check but not sure whether to let them loose on an S4. So i guess another question is can anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced Audi specialist in south hampshire?

Thanks all
Stephen

It sounds like the dual mass flywheel is failing, a common issue on these and it would be very risky to fit a new clutch onto an old DMF. Unfortunately these flywheels are £882.82 inc. VAT from Audi although you can but them from LUK suppliers for a lot less.
