Hello All,
I am looking for some advice please. Our A4 2.0 TDI 170 has covered 63K and has just turned 5 years old. I understand the Cam-Belt and water-pump should be replaced at 75K or 5 years whichever is sooner.

My dilemma is this: Maidstone Audi want £500 to change Cam-Belt and Water-Pump. However, GMS Ltd in Maidstone (Audi Specialist) want £390 for the same.

The last time we used an independant garage for our A4 1.8 petrol for cam-belt and clutch change the car never quite felt the same after, so am sceptical of using an indy garage that I have no experience of.

Has anyone used GMS in maidstone for this type of work. What was the quality of workmanship and service like, professional or non-chalant?

Should I just bite the bullet and go with main dealer?
Many thanks

I used Audi Bexley in the summer for cambelt change. £399 menu price plus (optional) new water pump £70. No complaints.

I use Sanspeed in Bexleyheath for everything. They have never been anything less than perfect for all my Audis. Had a cambelt & water pump change done on two previous A4s; IIRC, they cost around £350-£400 all in.
