I'm gonna replace my front discs and pads and have been looking at parts. GSF online (which is a really bad UI for an amateur btw) seem to indicate i will pay 58 quid each side while i can get both sides from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/PLANET-CAR-PARTS for the same price.

Is it really worth paying twice as much? What do you experts think?

Also, i have an AWX 04 Passat...can anyone give me the coolant temp sensor part number...GSF again have two listed and i cannot work out which is the right one.

Cheers People

Cheap discs suck, buy genuine.

The coolant temp sender is 059 919 501 A.

Thanks for the code man....

'Cheap discs suck' can you be more clear? will i notice a fall in performance or is it just a case of faster wear? will they cause any damage to the calipers or excessive pad wear?

The seller has had zero complaints so far so i'd have thought manufacturing defects can be ruled out. What are standard OEM discs made out of? Stainless steel? or some fancy alloy?

Thanks for your time btw....appreciated. I notice a slight military lilt to your profile ;), what do you do?

I have had terrible problems with after market discs in respect of premature corrosion to the bells, warping, accelerated wear and noise problems and a lot of after market pads have been giving me trouble as well so now I try and push all my customers to have genuine pads and discs if they are not having Black Diamond performance pads/discs. I am a VAG specialist with a deep interest in things military.
