A3 Deisel Revs at 1000 When Hot Idle

I have just taken delivery of a second hand A3 2.0TDi and the engine revs at 1000 revs when ticking over even when the engine is hot. Is this normal?

I'm pretty sure mine stays at a constant 1000 rpm, so I'd say yes, completely normal. If not, I have problems too lol.

I used to have the same engine in the S/Line model and I don't remember that revving at 1000 when idle.

Been out for a good run tonight & when I got back I remembered to check it & it's idling at 900rpm, so not a million miles off. I'm sure I've seen it dead on 1000 in the past though.
