Hi,

I've just bought an A4 TDI (90bhp) avant which has 18" RS4 alloys (or replicas anyway) fitted.

The car gets a bit jittery (seems to yaw slightly) when going over potholes etc and detracts from the usual 'confidence building' feel associated with these cars.

The cornering seems spot on but only when the road is smooth.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

im not too sure about the jittery, but does it only occur on a rough road if so, the 18" are scrapping something , check the inside of the tyre and if their is any unusual wear, cos it may be the tyre and the top arm retract from one another when hitting a bump

If you do a quick check in your handbook and check the size's of wheel/tyres, see if 18" are mentioned if not then it's quite possible that the steering geometry will need checking and correcting on this vehicle, by putting bigger than standard wheels on this will alter the camber causing the inner of the tyre to wear faster and because this car is a TDi the suspension will be slightly harder which will make things feel worse than they are, Just have a look at this inner tread on the front tyres to see if it seems worn more than the outer.....I hope this helps you:Blush:
