Hi, was wondering if anyone has put a diesel engine into a petrol 4motion? Dont know if it is possible or how difficult it would be. :dunno:

Anything is possible with enough money.

You'd also need to swap the gearbox, fuel tank lines, ECU/loom and so on.

Okay. Maybe I should have asked if it would sensible to do this or just buy a 4motion tdi.
Me thinks going by what you have said would need doing it really would not be worth all the hassle.
Cheers anyway.

It's pretty involved.

There's so much to change, (your best to get a TDI donor-car) including

Instrument cluster
Engine mounts
Intercooler and plumbing
Cooling hoses
Relays and loom for glow-plugs
And dozens of other brackets and stuff that pop-up as you go along

As well as the other things mentioned by MYCARSAVW, you'll need a good workshop, initiative
and problem-solving skills.

Jim

Ok ok I am getting the general idea on this:biglaugh: Only reason for asking is I fancy a 4motion tdi estate but these are quite pricey. Wnere as the petrol ones are about half the price.
But all the work and time involved wouldnt be worth it for me. So cheers for all the info and maybe someone will benefit from it, just too much work for me:(
