I ordered a new clutch switchfor my plus to see if i could get the cruise control and esp orking again. I asked for a clutch switch, and have been given a hall sensor, i dont know what the difference is but this hall sensor is nothing like ive seen.

Anyhow, to be sure if i have th righ part, i need to locate the old switch, but does anyone know where it is and how to get it off?

Ive loked ab ove and around the clutch pedal pivot, theres nothing there and no wiring harnesses connecting to anything. Someone mentioned it may be on the bulk head bu the cylinder.

Component G476, part number 1K0 927 810 D clutch position hall sender. Check fuse 7 in the dash side fuse board.

Thanks, ill check the fuse too. The main thing is, i need to figure out for sure where this switch is, then figure out which way it comes off. If its the one by the clutch cylinder, its very difficult and tight to get too. Can you help me out with that? i.e poss a workshop manual diagram?

On the master cylinder in the engine bay.

Yep, that looks like what i was trying to feel up and see behind the intake pipe. Its very restricted back there, i cant even rotate my arm/wrist. So judging from the pic above, the connector just pulls off towards the right.

Any ideas how the sensor comes off? The only thing i can figure out is downwards. The other thing i dont understand, there isnt any connection to the cylinder, so how does it work?

heres some pics.

It is a Hall Effect switch so it operates by a piece of metal passing through a magnetic field, it is supposed to be more reliable than the previous mechanical switch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect_sensor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect_sensor)

To access it you remove the turbo air feed pipe, DPF filter shield (if fitted), remove the noise insulation pad (if fitted) and then the sensor may be behind some AC pipework. If the MC has a disc shaped fluid damper this has to be removed and then the sensor can be unclipped.
