B8 Avant boot unlocking (or not)

I'm sure I'm being thick , but I cant find any way of opening the tailgate on my 23 week old car without having the key out of the ignition and pressing the buton on the fob , a real pain if you just want to get something out of the boot quickly .
I take it I'm doing something wrong and someone will be along to point out the error of my ways :confused:

Is there a button to open it on the door card?

As above, press the unlock button above the drivers interior handle and it should open all the doors.

Alternatively set Car, Locking, Boot so that it's unlocked if the doors are and then simply hop out and use the tailgate release. A bit dodgy though and I'd certainly be going with the drivers door button instead.

I can't find the button anywhere on mine have had to unlock it through car settings

There's a setting in the MMI where you can disable the ability to open the boot from the boot handle. Just check you don't have this option turned on.
