VAG-COM needed, Gloucestershire

Having recently bought my first Audi A4 1.6 1998, I've found that the central locking unit has the capability to offer remote central locking if I buy a suitable uncut key with transponder from eBay. Am I right in thinking this would work with my car if the relevant codes were programmed via VAG-COM and the transponder programmed?

If so, can anyone recommend someone to help me with this, or let me know if I've got things wrong?
